Stephen Mitchell, O.D. is a native of Louisville, Mississippi. He received his Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. Prior to optometry school, Dr. Mitchell received his bachelor's degree in Biology from Mississippi State University. He has completed externships at The Eye Center at Southern College of Optometry, Eye Care Associates in Laurel, and at the Yukon Kuskokwim Health corporation in Bethel, Alaska. These externships have given him valuable experience in all areas of practice including primary care, pediatrics, geriatrics, and disease management. Prior to graduation from SCO, he received the Southern Council of Optometrists Clinical Excellence Award. He is certified in the use of diagnostic and therapeutic drugs to treat various ocular conditions. He is a member of both the American and Mississippi Optometric Associations. Stephen and his wife, Jessica, live here in Starkville with their two sons, Carter and Parker. They are members of First Baptist Church of Starkville and are very active in the community. In his downtime, Stephen enjoys hunting, whitewater kayaking, hiking, and spending time with his family.

Andrew Mitchell, O.D is a native of Louisville, Mississippi. Dr. Mitchell graduated high school from Winston Academy. He attended Mississippi State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with Magna Cum Laude honors. Dr. Mitchell then went on to complete optometry school at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee and furthered his training with an externship at The Eye Center of The Southern College of Optometry, Campbell Cunningham & Taylor Eye Care Center in Knoxville, Tennessee and Eye Care Associates in Laurel, Mississippi. He is an active member of both the Mississippi Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. When he is not practicing optometry, Dr. Mitchell enjoys the outdoors including activities such as hunting, hiking, kayaking and running.

Jessica is the wife of Dr. Stephen Mitchell and is the Clinic Administrator here at Mitchell Eye Care. Stephen and Jessica have two precious sons, Carter and Parker. Jessica oversees all administrative tasks for the clinic, manages patient accounts, and handles insurance billing and reconciliation. She enjoys volunteering in the community as an ambassador for the Greater Starkville Development Partnership and a member of the Junior Auxiliary of Starkville. Stephen and Jessica are active members of First Baptist Church of Starkville where they serve in the children’s ministry. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her family. Her greatest joy is found in being a “boy mom” and attending every baseball and soccer game!

Beth is our Patient Access Representative and handles scheduling, precertification of insurance, and all prep-work for future appointments. She is a native of Louisville, MS where she resides with her husband, Rusty. She is the mother of Drs. Stephen and Andrew Mitchell and has been with our clinic since we opened in 2018. Beth is a graduate of Louisiana State University, and a member of First Baptist Church of Louisville. In her downtime, she enjoys gardening or any type of yardwork. She has a special interest in history, and you can often find her reading a good non-fiction book. 

Penny is one of our wonderful Opticians, who has worked with us since we opened in 2018 and has over 30 years of experience in optometry. Penny is from Louisville, where she resides with her husband, Jay, and her 17-year-old Pekingese, Max. Penny is from a family who “bleeds maroon”. She is one of nine children who all attended Mississippi State University and was part of the famous maroon band for all 4 years there. In her time away from Mitchell Eye Care, she enjoys antiquing with her sisters and attending MSU sporting events. Penny stated, “My favorite thing about working at Mitchell Eye Care is the family environment that we have and the special bonds we make with all of our patients!” We are so grateful for Penny and are not sure what we would do without her!

Angela is another of our amazing Opticians and has been with us since 2020. She has been working in optometry for almost 30 years. She currently resides in Louisville, MS with her husband, Randy, and is a mother of two grown children, Dawn and Drew. She is a grandmother of 5 who thoroughly enjoys her time with her family. She is a member of Doty Springs Baptist Church where she serves as a Pianist. In her spare time, she enjoys camping, crafting, and decorating. She stated, “My favorite parts of working at Mitchell Eye Care are the bonds we have with each other and our patients, the fun we have that keeps it from feeling like “work”, and the quality of care that we strive to give our patients.” Angela has been such a blessing to our clinic!

Briana is one of our Paraoptometric Technicians who truly has a passion for healthcare and helping people. On top of her duties as a technician, she also handles contact lens orders and performs special testing when needed. She is originally from Brandon, MS and is one of four children. She has lived in Starkville for 6 years with her dog, Grizzly, and attends Pinelake Church. Briana attended Mississippi University for Women where she studied healthcare administration and business management. In her downtime, she enjoys trips to the mountains, anything outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends!
